Woollen Witchery
Woollen Witchery

Woollen Witchery produces 100% wool grown and manufactured in Australia and accredited by the Australian Fibre Collective. I started this project as something to focus on after we were impacted by the Black Summer Bushfires. The yarn is hand dyed using plants from our farms in East Gippsland.
The product list is growing currently we have a range of semi solid hand dyed yarns in 4, 5, 8 and 10ply using local plants from the East Gippsland area. Some of the plants used include Snow Gum, Narrowleaf Peppermint, Omeo Gum and Blue Gum Eucalyptus species to name a few. Other sources of dye are from plants grown in the garden such as Marigolds, Japanese Indigo and Coreopsis. A small amount of botanical dyes are purchased (eg. Cochineal and Black Stone Flower) until I can find a substitute from the garden or farm.
Using plant material to dye with has many different variables. Even from the same plant the time of year that the leaves are collected will give different colours. That is all part of the magic of using foraged materials as the dye source and only really finding out the colour when you pull the yarn out of the pot.
