Once upon a time, the main industry in Geelong, was wool.
We rivalled Melbourne for shipping, exports, and auctions of wool. The Million Dollar Bale was auctioned in what is now The National Wool Museum. We had multiple woolstores, classers, shearers, auctioneers, and a world renowned reputation as one of the central hubs of wool.
This yarn show is a celebration of our local producers of hand dyed yarns, fleeces, and other products associated with the industry.

If it can be created in wool, you may just find it at the markets. Browse and buy hand felted garments and accessories, designer knitwear, weavings, funky beanies and farm label knitwear. There's also a vast array of woollen yarns, including hand spun and hand dyed yarns.
